CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT POSTPONED EMAIL
March 13, 2020Good afternoon,
I want to start by thanking all of you for a great season. I hope you
all had fun and plan on joining us again in the Fall for our next league.
Normally, this would be the email I would send out that would have all
of the details for the Championship Party and Tournament.
Unfortunately due to the coronavirus and the ban on mass gatherings the
decision has been made to POSTPONE the event.
A reschedule date has not been set yet. Once time has passed and not
only has the ban been lifted but a determination has been made that it
is once again safe to hold large events, I will be able to contact you
with a date and details for the tournament.
I have the stats from this final week posted so the Top 32 teams are
listed: http://www.skeeballworldtour.com/tournament_qualifiers.php
Once a new date has been scheduled, I will again have to ask everyone to
RSVP to this new date and will update the Top 32 accordingly (taking out
the teams that RSVP that they can't play in the tournament and moving up
the next teams in line.)
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Thank you,
Kathy Taylor

FALL 2018 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
November 19, 2018Twelve was the lucky number for the Whiskee Shots in Saturday night's Fall Skeeball Tournament. The #12 ranked Whiskee Shots showed up with their A-game... knocking off the #1 ranked UnbeSKEEvable in the final four, before beating #2 ranked Miami Skeat in the finals. This season's final was a nail biter and wasn't an easy road for the eventual champs. Up 3 games to 2, it looked like they'd win in 6 games... but Miami Skeats' anchor had other thoughts. Needing a 540 to send the match to a 7th game, Rick Miller rolled a cool 630 to keep his team alive. Game 7 provided an even greater challenge. Rick's turn came up with him needing an 810 in the final game of the night the salvage the championship. He nailed 5 of his first 6 in the 100 hole, giving his team hope that an 810 was possible... but missed on his final 3 balls. This was the 3rd time Miami Skeat has made it to the finals, but had to settled for runner-up honors each time. As for the Whiskee Shots, Brian McPherran, Lindsey Borstein and Josh Borstein (left to right in the picture below) each played great all night and capitalized on it in their first ever trip to the finals.
Last season's champions, Scoopskee Potatoes, were relegated to the Second Chance Bracket this season (after losing in the first round). But, they did prevail in at least taking home the less distinguished title this time around... knocking off Skee U Next Wednesday with a 3-game sweep in the final.
Raffle Prize Winners ($100, $200 and $500 Amazon Gift Cards) are shown below (left to right): Rena Grida (Copley), Ed Zukowski (Copley) and Chuck Lewis (Macedonia). An interesting side note about this year's $500 Amazon Gift Card winner... Chuck Lewis also won the top prize at the Fall Tournament in 2017.
As always, Sal's Photos of the event are available for viewing.

WINTER 2018 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
March 26, 2018It was an 'ALL POTATO' final this year in the Winter 2018 Skeeball World Tour Tournament. Last season's runner-up, Skeet and Potatoes (Copley) was facing off against Mentor's Scoopskee Potatoes. The latter Potatoes actually finished in 4th place on Tuesday night in Mentor during the regular season, but had the good fortune of having one of their regular players (Greg Lyons) not able to make it to the tournament. With a fill-in player in tow, Brian Kampman picked up the slack in leading Scoopskee Potatoes to a sweep of Skeet and Potatoes. Three of his four games in the final match were 630's... after rolling a pair or 720's in the team's semi-final match (equaling his total number of 700+ games during the regular season in a single match).
Rounding out the final four, but coming up a little short were (UnbeSKEEvable (Macedonia) and Rule #7Skee6 (Mentor). UnbeSKEEvable was the top team in the league this season and were the favorites going into the tournament... while Rule #7Skee6 was the top team at Mentor (Tuesday) this season.
Over in the Second Chance Bracket, the HungLo (Mentor... shown below) knocked off the Alley Cats (Macedonia) in the final match to claim the honors.
Raffle Prize Winners ($100, $200 and $500 Amazon Gift Cards) are shown below (left to right): Megan McPherran (Copley), Ross Fatica (Macedonia) and Deb Leahy (Lakewood).
As always, Sal's Photos of the event are available for viewing.

3 IN A ROW
March 14, 2018PJ Turosky (Mentor) has become the first player in Skeeball World Tour history to roll 3 consecutive 720s. He pulled off the feat on March 8th in frames 5 through 7 and finished with 4610 points on the evening.
Note: In the Fall season of 2012, someone did roll a 720,720 and 900 consecutively... but technically not 3 straight 720s.
FALL 2017 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
November 20, 2017Last season's champion, Skee-veland Rocks! (Brunswick), made it two in a row (and 3rd straight season in the finals)... when they came back to beat Skeet and Potatoes (Copley). After losing the first 2 games, Skee-veland Rocks! picked it up and had a combined '7' 440+ scores (including a pair of 540's by Brett Marcis) in the next 4 frames... winning all 4 of them to close it out. Skeet and Potatoes was out of gas over those final 4 frames and couldn't muster a single 400+ game over that span.
Skeet and Potatoes dodged a bullet 2 rounds earlier, narrowly getting past Seekin' A Skeesome. Tied at 3 game apiece, it came down to the final player (Tony Rome), who needed a 500+ game to win the game and match. Tony calmly rolled a 540... and then wasn't so calm.
Also in the final four, but coming up a little short were a pair of teams from Mentor (Born to Skee Wild and Scoopskee Potatoes).
Over in the Second Chance Bracket, Sweet Baby Skeesus (Lakewood... shown below) knocked off Alaskan Pipeliners (Copley) in the final match to claim the honors.
Raffle Prize Winners ($100, $200 and $500 Amazon Gift Cards) are shown below (left to right): Sonya Snyder - Mentor, Mike Austin - Macedonia and Chuck Lewis - Macedonia.

WINTER 2017 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
March 27, 2017Last season's runners-up, Skee-veland Rocks!, took the next step at Saturday's Winter Skeeball Tournament winning their first title... knocking off many-time past champs, That's What Skee Said. After losing the first game, Steve Krivos' clutch 640 narrowly won game 2 to even the match for Skee-veland Rocks!. Three more straight close games found Skee-veland Rocks! up 3 games to 2. In game 6, Brett Marcis (a mid-season recruit who was called upon as a replacement due to Nick Galiato's paternity leave), rolled a 540... after having only one 500+ game in his Skeeball World Tour career... to lead Skee-veland Rocks! to victory.
Seekin' A Skeesome (Copley) and Scoopskee Potatoes (Mentor) rounded out the final 4, but came up just short of the final.
Over in the Second Chance Bracket, Run D-M Skee (Copley... shown below) knocked off The Wannaskees (Brunswick) in the final match to claim the honors.
Raffle Prize Winners ($100, $200 and $500 Amazon Gift Cards) are shown below (left to right): Jeanna Coleman - Macedonia, Sandy Guthleben - Mentor and Jason Platzgraf - Canton.

FALL 2016 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
November 21, 2016Claiming the November 19th Fall Skeeball Tournament title was Born to Skee wild (Mentor... shown below) as they defeated Jen Parker's Skee-veland Rocks! (Brunswick). The final round again went 7 games, though it wasn't looking good for the eventual champs, as they lost the first 3 games of the best-of-7 match. Anchorman Dirt Guthleben pulled off some late heroics in game 4 to keep Born to Skee wild alive, then stepped up in the bottom of game 7 needing a 380 to secure the title. Dirt nailed a 390 to narrowly secure the win in one of the best comebacks in Skeeball World Tour history.
Skeeterifics (Lakewood) and Scoopskee Potatoes (Mentor) rounded out the final 4, but came up just short of the final.
Over in the Second Chance Bracket, the Balls of Fury (Mentor... shown below) knocked off Mean Mom and Company (Brunswick) in the final match to claim the honors.
Raffle Prize Winners are shown below (left to right): Ashley Lorenzo - Canton, Mike Pivato - Brunswick and Randy Shockey - Mentor.

WINTER TOURNAMENT RESULTS
March 21, 2016That's What Skee Said claimed their 5th title in the March 19th Winter Skeeball Tournament, defeating Miami Skeet (who also happened to be last season's runner-up) in the final. The final round went 7 games and was decided on the very last ball. Matt Lorenzo (the final player on the home team in game 7) needed a 100 on his last ball to pull out the victory... and he nailed it!
For the first time ever (at least in memory), the top 4 teams in the tournament (That's What Skee Said - Canton, Skeeterifics - Lakewood, Miami Skeet - Brunswick and Scoopskee Potatoes - Mentor) made it to the final 4. Also of note... Rick (lefty) Miller of Miami Skeet rolled the only 700+ game of the night. The rest of the story is that he broke his right wrist the day before the season began and was forced to play the whole season... including the tournament... left-handed.
Over in the Second Chance Bracket, the Skeezy Old Bastards knocked off the Leahy girls of Sweet Baby Skeesus in the final match to claim the honors.
Raffle Prize Winners are shown below (Top, left to right: Lori Byrne-Macedonia, Cara Wilson-Mentor and bottom, left to right: Allison Galioto-Brunswick, Arlene Barcouza-Brunswick).

Down 3 games to 2, Frank Ferrato rolled an 810 in the anchor position to keep Team Polycoat alive and they eventually won the 7th game.
The Beer Buddies (Mentor) were 3rd place finishers... making their first appearance in the final 4 as they beat another surprise final 4 participant, Team Zero Tickets (Bedford Heights), in the consolation match.

Winners of the $250, $350 and $500 Amazon Gift Cards:

As a side note, Tony's Tribe defeated the Beer Buddies in the second chance bracket. Tony's Tribe also won the second chance bracket last season.

SPRING TOURNAMENT RESULTS
May 19, 2014Rick Miller not only won the individual 'Best Season Average' during the regular season, but he also lead his team, Out of Skeetirement (Brunswick) to the spring season title this past Saturday night (May 17th). Springskee & the Skee St. Band (Mentor), for the second straight season, had to settle for being runners up. They fell to Out of Skeetirement 4-0 in the final match.
The second chance bracket final featured a pair of Lakewood teams. In that final match, the Booskees edged out There's no Crying in Skeeball.
Sal didn't take as many pictures as normal in this event, but what pictures he did take can be viewed HERE.

FALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS
November 19, 2013That's What Skee Said came out on top at Saturday night's tournament. That was not a big surprise... since they did score more regular season points than any other team in the league. What was a big surprise was the runner up in the tournament. Skeeballz From Hell (Mentor) was that surprise team. They rolled through the #2 ranked Spy Guys, #7 ranked Skee Amigos and #3 ranked Out of Skeetirement in consecutive matches before coming up short in the final. Interestingly enough, there were no 700+ games rolled all night by any player. Also of note... Matt Lorenzo (That's What Skee Said) not only was part of the title winning team, but he also was the winner of the 55" TV in the raffle.
Pics of the festivities can be seen in Sal's Online Photo Album.
SPRING TOURNAMENT RESULTS
May 20, 2013For the third consecutive season, the Spy Guys win the tournament. They lost their first game of the night, but that turned out to be their lone loss of the evening. Their string of wins culminated with 4 straight in the final match against first-time finalists The Brownski's. The Brownski's made it to the final match with back-to-back wins over 2 of the top teams in the tournament (That's What Skee Said and Mean Mom and Company).
CANTON DOES THE HARLEM SHAKE
March 10, 2013Check out the Canton Winking Lizard doin' the Harlem Shake on youtube. Well done Canton!
WINTER TOURNAMENT RESULTS
March 10, 2013The Spy Guys came out on top in the winter league tournament last night (March 9th)... taking home their 3rd title (2nd consecutively)... winning 4 games to 2 in the final match. Once again, it came at the expense of Marble Rye, who have been the runner up in each of those 3 Spy Guy title seasons. One of the big surprises of the night was the Skeet Skeet Skeeballaz (of Macedonia) who entered the tournament as a #23 seed, but that didn't stop them from knocking off 2 of the top teams in the tournament (#2 Mean Mom and Company and #7 That's What Skee Said) in back-to-back matches before falling to Marble Rye in the final 4.
